Adaptive Music Engine Elias Makes Push in Mobile Games – Inks Deal with Rovio
Elias makes a big push in the mobile games sector. The company is now announcing their new technology, which has been tailored for mobile games. In conjunction, they are also partnering with Finnish developer Rovio Entertainment, the studio behind the hugely successful Angry Birds franchise.
Recently, the Stockholm-based startup Elias revealed their plans on revolutionizing game music with their adaptive music solution Elias Engine (patent pending). Now they are announcing new technology containing many improvements and optimizations tailored for adaptive music on iOS and Android.
80’s Tech Resurrected
Over the past year, Elias has worked on bringing MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) back. The MIDI format has been used since the 80’s in synthesizers, but is mainly associated with the game music from the 90’s, when the technology broke through in the game industry.
To facilitate the launch of MIDI, Elias has secured partnerships with seven of the world’s best sound sample library providers. One of them is Orchestral Tools, whose samples are being used by numerous renowned Hollywood film composers, such as legendary Hans Zimmer.
- MIDI technology has always had one problem, and that is the quality of the sounds that are being used. Elias cooperates with the best there are. Combining MIDI in games and the best sound libraries has never been done before, says Kristofer Eng, founder and Product Owner at Elias.
Partnership with Rovio
As a part of the push in the mobile games sector, Elias has signed a partnership deal with Finnish game studio Rovio Entertainment, the creators of the Angry Birds games. This partnership allows Rovio to integrate Elias Engine in all their future games. This is a strategically important move for Elias as Rovio is among the largest mobile games developers in the world.
- We’re incredibly glad and proud to get Rovio on board. It’s an amazing acknowledgement for us that one of the most successful mobile games developers has chosen our technology for adaptive game music, says Kristofer Eng, founder and Product Owner at Elias.
